about
'Blackest Days' is a song that deals with multiple issues from mental illness, coming of age, sexuality, gender, youth, abuse based on the experiences of many people and how they overcame them and if they gained anything, what they gained and learned from their experiences.
The overall message is that something good can come out of something bad; particularly how traumatic or negative experiences can make people stronger or can be made into something artistically beautiful and we should embrace the dark parts of ourselves and the dark parts of our lives because they make us who we are.
lyrics
Fetal heart bracing storms
Feeble arms claw from within
Fear of flying seals her in
Solitude, youthful doubt
Starlight boy in a big new world
Bubble minds don’t glow like him
Fatal thoughts strike the phoenix chord and ignite her flight into her true form
His heart shines a different tone and it bleeds through his skin as he settles in
So fly, fly, fire girl, glow, glow, starlight boy,
Be free and
Give me your blackest days, I’ll make you something beautiful
Give me your darkest fears, I’ll turn them into lullabies
Give me the shadow of your human notion, I’ll show you the dark holds a reservoir of life
Scent of danger on a misty mind
Foggy head shakes the wise old trees
Deer-like instincts say run like you’re wild
Intruding a fisticuffs play
Night of promise was a damned carnival
Mother Moon come to our rescue
Healer comes to the deer-spirit’s aid and brings relief to the quaking soul
Mother Moon guides the pack home to a place that’s safe from the restless beasts of the night
You’re aligned, aligned, Deer-spirit kind
Spear heart you pierced through the dark
Be safe and
Give me your blackest days, I’ll make you something beautiful
Give me your darkest fears, I’ll turn them into lullabies
Give me the shadow of your human notion, I’ll show you the dark holds a reservoir of life
Life
In my darkness I’ve been so consumed by the biting fables I create
And I based them on my fears
And I placed them like daggers around me
But I try to wear them like a rose
I try to wear them like a rose
Petals inspire the gloom
This is for raincloud wanderers
This is for the mind conjurers
This is for the feeling of loss and violation, loneliness and humiliation, oh!
This is for you
This is for you
Because sometimes we feel pain, we feel shame, we feel so vulnerable at times
And though it hurts, it gets worse when you lock it up inside
Just let breath
But don’t let it wear you out,
You can wear it like a rose
Paint, create and dance with it
Sing, create and sculpt with it
Use it, feel it, create with it
Make your peace so you can
Take all your blackest days and make them something beautiful
Take all your darkest fears and turn them into lullabies
Look at the shadow of your human notion and it’ll show you the dark holds a reservoir of life
Sometimes I'm dressed for a unicorn party ❤ other times I'm dressed for a vampire funeral
